Graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1992, after working with the Belgiojoso BBPR studio and the Gregotti Associati International studio, he founded Farnese Contract in Milan in 1996. In 1999 Carlo Donati Studio was established, mainly focused on the design of exclusive villas and homes, shops and resorts in Italy and worldwide. After having followed as architectural consultant the brands Gianni Versacein New York, Aldo Coppola, Colefax & Fowler,
Linea più, the Studio is currently in charge of the artistic direction of the Slowear group for which it has realised showrooms and shops all over the world, including Paris, London, New York, Tokyo.
In 2008 he won the competition for the masterplan of Segrate, Milan. He is currently also involved in furniture design with independent furniture lines and for the Essential Home and Delightfull brands. The Studio has been invited to lecture at
the Faculty of Architecture of Politecnico di Milano and holds professional development courses for architects on eLearning platforms. The Studio's work, which has attracted the interest of the international press, is published in the most authoritative magazines in the sector and in numerous volumes both in Italy and abroad.
Carlo Donati Studio’s projecst showcase a precise way of working that is translated into a refined visual abacus. This variety of works in their uniqueness, even though with coherent compositional traits and distinctive features, convey a state of visual equilibrium characterised by a discrete and sophisticated luxury. Donati’s projects are known for their ability to connect: they are physical and visual connections in living spaces, however his research pushes us to the investigation of metaphorical connections of different worlds. It tends to bring back into the interior not only cross references of different styles that contaminate each other, but also worlds unrelated to architecture, that is in cinema, art, music and pop culture. A multiplicity of stimuli that renews the unique experience of living at every glance.
